Short Story Review: “Rag Doll” by Rebecca Scarberry

A friend of mine requested me to allow him to write a review for a short story he just read. I have been interested in allowing guest posts on my blog and that’s why i allowed my friend to share what he thought of the new work he just read. I would prefer my readers to give this post a read and check out the short story and the writer when they can. Let the very first guest post, begin!

Rag Doll by Rebecca Scarberry

I’m not really a fan of works that are exclusive to the genera of crime. However, i was quite surprised that when i got to know about the short story Rag Doll by Rebecca Scarberry i quite enjoyed it. Once i started reading it, i just couldn’t stop myself from turning the pages. If you like a nice little mystery, some steamy scenes and a shocking twist at the end, then this short story is for you.

The main character of the story is a man named Jeremy Martell. At the start of the story, we get to see Jeremy with his four-year old son Todd as they search for diamonds. Jeremy notices blood on Todd’s hands who says that he has found a rag doll. It’s tough to review a story without giving anything away, especially when it’s a short story and a mystery but I’ll do my best. The rag doll happens to be a a body of woman who Jeremy knows and everything happens quite fast after that.

One of the best things about this short story is that the author, Rebecca Scarberry, does an awesome job when it comes to telling an interesting and shock inducing story in as compact a manner as possible. Not only that, all of the characters are well fleshed out and that makes the whole fictional world come to life. You have Jeremy’s wife Rita who is unhappy about her marriage and the mysterious Selena and not every character is who they seem to be.

If you want to read an amazing short story that has a lot of mystery and an ending that you won’t see coming, then ‘Rag Doll‘ is for you. I’m not an expert when it comes to rating books but i know what i like and that’s why i would give ‘Rag Doll‘ five out of five stars. It’s a must read!!

You can know more about Rebecca Scarberry from her blog where you will also get to know about all the other interesting authors she has interviewed. You can also get in contact with her on her twitter (@Scarberryfields). You can get hold of the amazing ‘Rag Doll‘ through this Amazon link.
